Deliver critical care in a dynamic, rural emergency department setting located in scenic Shelburne, VT. This contract role involves providing emergency nursing care across a patient age range from newborn to geriatric in a 10-14 bed Emergency Department with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio. The unit leverages advanced technology including Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, Alaris IV pumps, and Phillips monitors, supported by respiratory and anesthesia teams available 24/7.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct rapid assessment and intervention using the ESI triage scale
- Perform IV insertions, drips/infusions, and EKGs
- Apply restraints, assist with procedural sedation, and coordinate patient transports, including ambulance transfers as needed
- Potentially serve as charge nurse and precept new staff
- Utilize telemedicine and telestroke consultations for patient care support
- Collaborate closely with medical staff, including MDs and mid-level providers
Desired Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience, including 2 years in emergency nursing
- Completion of at least one travel nursing contract preferred
- Certifications in ACLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC, NRP; NIHSS highly preferred
- Experience in Critical Access Hospital or rural Emergency Department settings highly desirable
- Charge nurse and transport experience advantageous
- Flexibility to work varied shifts: 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, 7p-7a; holiday coverage required
