Job Summary

Barton & Gray Mariners Club is revolutionizing the yachting industry with best-in-class hospitality. As an exclusive yachting club, we provide private and memorable outings across 35+ stunning harbors with our growing fleet of 95+ vessels. With our expanding footprint, we are seeking a contract to perm APP Developer to assist in the development and maintenance of the company's proprietary software. The APP Developer must excel with working in small teams and managing projects independently. The ideal candidate thrives in fostering strong relationships with club executives and directors to understand the needs of our proprietary software, and is able to execute those requests with minimal oversight.


This is a hybrid position, reporting 3 days/week to our Boston, MA Design Studio and 2 days remote (with flexibility). This is a contract position and is expected to last four months, with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of iOS applications which are critical in running Barton & Grays front and back-end business

  • Collaborate with designers and B&G department managers to understand project requirements and translate them into processes and technical specifications

  • Write well-constructed, readable code in Swift

  • Analyze and refactor code; write test cases

  • Convert content (visual styles, promotional materials, and other club materials) into Swift UI views

  • Understand processes and human nature that drive application processes, constraints, and requirements

  • Use prototype-to-production, embrace XP, and on occasion, test-driven-development methods for ability to embrace change in the software realm.onduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure optimal performance and use experience

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest iOS development trends, tools, and best practices

  • Contribute ideas for improving existing products and processes to drive continuous innovation and efficiencies in all Barton & Gray


Required Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

  • Must have strong experience in SWIFT and SWIFT UI programming language and iOS Development frameworks (UIKit, Core Animation, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript/Web Frameworks

  • Familiarity with Xcode IDE and version control systems (Git)

  • UNIX, Mac, standard HTML and Java (preferred by not required)

  • Basic understanding of software design principles and patterns

  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Prior experience with mobile app development (personal projects, internships, or academic coursework) is a plus
