Hands-on technician who supports PCB process engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment, executing operator-level process runs and DOEs, collecting and validating process data, supporting root-cause investigations, and maintaining clear operator documentation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate PCB manufacturing equipment and execute production and NPI builds at the operator level (setups, changeovers, first-article builds) per engineering instructions and short sheets/SOPs.
- Serve as process owner for assigned machines/processes: maintain readiness, enforce SOP adherence, and act as floor-level point of contact for operators.
- Prepare, run, document, and collect raw data for Design of Experiments (DOE) and structured trials under guidance of process engineers; ensure disciplined data capture and handoff.
- Monitor and record process performance metrics (yield, cycle time, defect counts, rework); create/maintain basic SPC charts and flag trends to engineering/quality.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions (RCA, 5-Why, containment activities); execute and verify engineering-prescribed corrective actions on the floor.
- Maintain and update operator-level documentation (short sheets, SOPs, checklists) in clear, concise language; implement simple poka-yoke/error-proofing where feasible.
- Perform in-process inspections, first-article checks, and basic quality verification; document nonconformances and escalate to Quality/Engineering.
- Assist in equipment qualification, process capability studies (Cp/Cpk) data collection, and process transfers during NPI and scale-up events.
- Support purchasing/maintenance in identifying tooling, fixtures, and consumables needed for trials.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and cross-functional NPI meetings.
- Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.
- This position may require overtime for coverage on alternate shifts and weekends.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent vocational training in Electronics Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field; OR 2+ years hands-on experience in PCB manufacturing or related electronics production.
- Demonstrated operator-level experience with PCB processes (e.g., imaging, lamination, drilling, routing, soldering, inspection equipment).
- Practical experience assisting with or executing DOEs and structured trials and disciplined data collection practices.
- Working knowledge of basic statistical tools and SPC concepts; experience with Minitab or similar statistical software preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with MES/MRP/shop-floor systems advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and manual dexterity.
- Effective verbal and written communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light-to-moderate lifting.
