Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A licensed Special Education Teacher position is available to support middle school students in a specialized LINKS program designed for learners with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time contract role runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with the possibility of extension.

Located at a middle school in Holyoke, MA, the program serves small classrooms of six students, each supported by two paraprofessionals and dedicated 1:1 staff members. The Special Education Teacher will act as the teacher of record, providing instructional leadership, implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating closely with support personnel to ensure a comprehensive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with ASD and complex support needs in alignment with their IEPs
  • Provide toileting assistance and support for sensory challenges when required
  • Address behavioral needs, including self-injurious behaviors (SIB), through evidence-based strategies
  • Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides for consistent student support
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with school staff and administration

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license
  • Experience working with students diagnosed with ASD and related sensory processing challenges
  • Knowledge and experience managing self-injurious behaviors
  • Comfort and competence in providing personal care support such as toileting
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills within a multidisciplinary support setting

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass required drug screening, fingerprinting, and background checks
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality essential
  • Availability for virtual interview via Microsoft Teams
