Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-centered care on a 51-bed Med-Surg Telemetry unit, managing diverse cases including post-op ortho, urology, GI, COPD, CHF, diabetes, dementia, and end-of-life care
- Perform telemetry applications, rhythm interpretation, and active monitoring with timely clinical intervention
- Conduct bedside procedures such as peripheral IV and NG tube insertion
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including CNAs, LPNs, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, and anesthesia
- Utilize electronic systems including Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
- Adapt to floating infrequently as needed within similar units, maintaining flexibility in care delivery
- Participate in self-scheduling of 12-hour shifts with occasional extra 8-hour shifts and holiday coverage (every other weekend off, no call requirements)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience with at least 1 year in a telemetry or medical-surgical specialty
- Current BLS, ACLS, and Telemetry certifications required; peripheral IV placement privileges preferred
- Demonstrated competence in telemetry rhythm interpretation and clinical decision-making
- Strong teamwork and communication skills within a multi-disciplinary care model
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts with opportunity to pick up additional 8-hour shifts
- Self-scheduling via online system ensures schedule visibility in advance
- Every other weekend coverage required; holiday shifts expected; no call responsibilities
Additional Information:
- Orientation includes 1-2 precepted shifts and educator-led preparation prior to autonomous patient care
- Dress code is professional with scrubs allowed, closed-toe non-skid shoes required
- Reliable transportation encouraged due to possible travel to offsite housing within 15 minutes
