Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A licensed Special Education Teacher is needed to support students in a middle school setting within a structured program designed for learners with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year, with possible extension.

Located in Springfield, MA, the position involves serving as the teacher of record for the LINKS program, which provides specialized instructional services. Each classroom serves six students and is supported by two paraprofessionals and a designated 1:1 staff member. The teacher will provide instructional leadership, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate closely with paraprofessionals and support staff to meet students diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with significant support needs, including those with ASD
  • Implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet student goals
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and 1:1 staff to provide consistent and effective classroom support
  • Manage behavioral and sensory challenges, including self-injurious behaviors (SIB), with appropriate interventions
  • Provide direct support for toileting and other personal care needs as required
  • Maintain punctuality and professional communication with school staff and administration

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching License
  • Experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and those with sensory processing challenges
  • Skilled in managing self-injurious behaviors and providing toileting support
  • Strong collaboration skills with paraprofessionals and classroom teams
  • Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and drug screening

  • Reliable transportation to and from the school
  • Commitment to timely attendance and professional conduct
  • Ability to notify school and recruiter promptly in case of absence
