Men's Health Boston is a multispecialty private practice focusing on Sexual Medicine, Cardiovascular health and Nutrition therapy. The Medical Assistant at MHB is a medical assistant who performs duties supporting the clinical and at times, administrative operations of the practice. The MA is largely responsible for patient intake and documentation within patient medical records, maintenance of medical equipment, and supporting in-office procedures. The MA may cross-cover four areas (check in, check out, patient care and administrative) as needed. The work of the MA will vary and is largely driven by the real-time needs.
The Clinical Medical Assistant at Men's Health Boston is responsible for the following:
- Preparing for patient visits in advance by ensuring all equipment and medication is present for procedures, and labs, radiology reports and other patient care documents are filed appropriate in patient’s charts
- Preparing exam rooms and replenishing all clinical supplies
- Maintain clean, fully stocked exam rooms
- Monitoring patient flow and addressing patient flow concerns with appropriate staff member
- Obtaining patient medical history and recording in patient's chart
- Preparing patients for procedures and assisting providers with procedures
- Disassembling and/or inspecting instruments and supplies; reassembling, wrapping and sterilizing instruments and equipment as per equipment specification
- Preparing and printing schedules, and check-out forms for add-ons.
- Work with the providers to monitor and coordinate their clinic flow.
- Timely greet, room and prepare patients
- Reviewing all medications and past medical history with each patient
- Skilled in phlebotomy and willing to back-up for laboratory services for patient blood draws
- Perform therapeutic phlebotomy draws, as needed
- Have or be willing to receive certification for DXA and Body Composition scans
- Knowledgeable or agreeable to be trained for setting up and assisting with all in-office cardiac testing, including but not limited to: stress tests, stress-echo, echocardiograms, carotid ultrasounds, Zio Patch placement, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and LINQ procedures
- Appropriately record all controlled substances distributed from storage.
- Lock the medicine cabinets, clean and close down each exam room at the end of the day; open and prepare exam rooms each morning.
- Maintain and organize samples for providers
- Maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards
- Knowledgeable or agreeable to training for prescription management, medication refills, and prior authorization management
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
