Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An immediate need exists for an experienced Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee specialty pharmacy operations within a contract assignment based in Quincy, MA. This role requires an individual adept in home infusion and specialty pharmacy management, with a focus on ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting optimal patient care through strong collaboration with clinical and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise pharmacy prescription review, verification, dispensing, and compliance with federal and state regulations including State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, ACHC
- Provide patient counseling and manage medication therapies for specialty disease states
- Lead and mentor pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring workflow efficiency
- Work closely with Intake, Referral Services, Nursing/Clinical teams, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations for seamless prescription fulfillment
- Maintain accurate documentation, quality assurance, and incident resolution
- Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License required; Connecticut Pharmacist License preferred or willingness to obtain promptly
- BS or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- Minimum of 3 years experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, or comparable pharmacy settings; retail-only experience does not meet criteria
- Strong expertise in specialty therapies and patient qualification processes
- Experience in pharmacy operations, payer requirements, and clinical coordination
- Familiarity with CareTend pharmacy system is advantageous
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multitasking skills
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with on-call rotation on weekends
This contract role offers a 13-week duration with possible extension up to 26 weeks, paving the way for potential conversion. Candidates must be ready for a quick start and capable of working onsite.
