NESCA is seeking an experienced Transition Specialist to join our team. This per diem role is ideal for a clinician with expertise in postsecondary planning, vocational assessment, and independent living skills who is looking for flexible, evaluation-based work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive transition evaluations for adolescents and young adults
- Assess postsecondary readiness across education, employment, independent living, and self-advocacy domains
- Integrate record review, interviews, standardized measures, and clinical judgment
- Prepare clear, well-organized written reports with practical, actionable recommendations
- Collaborate with NESCA clinicians, families, and educational teams as needed
- Participate in feedback sessions with families and/or young adults
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Outstanding organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of person-centered planning, individualized supports models, self-determination principles, and self-advocacy skills
- Understanding of skills necessary for postsecondary success, including but not limited to time management, planning and prioritizing, study skills, social skills, healthcare skills, and safety in school and community environments
- Ability to creatively problem-solve and think outside the box
- Familiarity with school-based special education service provision including school-based evaluation, team meeting, and IEP development practices
- Knowledge of career counseling and college readiness practices
- Familiarity with vocational and transition-related assessment tools (transition planning inventories, functional assessments, interest tests, aptitude tests, transferable skills analysis), and other evaluative techniques
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling (Mental Health, Guidance, School Adjustment, Education), School Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or a related field and at least three (3) years of experience
