A healthcare nursing opportunity is currently available in Barre, VT, offering a contract position focused on medical-surgical telemetry care. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care on a 51-bed Med-Surg Telemetry unit, managing adults with diverse conditions including post-operative orthopedic, urology, and gastrointestinal care, as well as chronic illnesses such as COPD, CHF, diabetes, and end-of-life care.
  • Utilize telemetry skills including the application, interpretation, and active response to cardiac rhythms.
  • Perform bedside procedures including peripheral IV insertion and NG tube placement.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including LPNs, LNAs, respiratory therapists, and charge nurses to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain documentation using the Epic system and medication management via Pyxis.
  • Float to similar units infrequently, demonstrating flexibility within the organization.
  • Adhere to professional dress and grooming standards, promoting a professional appearance.
  • Participate in holiday shifts and every other weekend scheduling; no weekend-only requirement or call duties.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid RN license with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in telemetry nursing.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and Telemetry.
  • Peripheral IV placement skills preferred.
  • Proficient in telemetry strip interpretation and responsive intervention.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts with options to pick up extra 8-hour shifts.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to integrate into a collaborative unit culture.

  • Scheduling managed through an online platform with advance posting of schedules.
  • Free onsite parking is available; reliable personal transportation recommended due to local housing distances.
  • Hospital provides on-call rooms for on-call staff during emergencies.
  • The unit employs advanced equipment including Sigma IV pumps, CAAD PCA pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, Mindray cardiac monitors, and GE EKG machines.
  • Respiratory and anesthesia support are available 24/7.
