Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A licensed Special Education Teacher opportunity is available to support a middle school program dedicated to students with significant support needs, including those on the Autism Spectrum (ASD). This full-time contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with potential for extension.
Located in Springfield, MA, this role involves serving as the teacher of record within a specialized classroom setting consisting of six students, supported by two paraprofessionals and individualized 1:1 staff. The teacher will provide instructional leadership, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate closely with support staff to ensure each students needs are met.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Skilled in managing sensory needs and self-injurious behaviors (SIB)
- Comfortable providing toileting assistance
- Strong ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and one-on-one staff members
- Reliable transportation and punctuality required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as teacher of record for the LINKS program classroom
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans based on IEP goals
- Lead and coordinate with paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides to support student progress
- Monitor and adapt strategies to address sensory and behavioral needs
- Maintain clear communication with school administration and families as needed
This position requires successful completion of a drug screening, fingerprinting, and background (CORI) check prior to starting. Candidates should be prepared to begin promptly and manage scheduling conflicts proactively.
