Plate Mounter - Second Shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM)
Job Summary
The Plate Mounter is responsible for performing a variety of manual and mechanical tasks involved in mounting printing plates onto print rolls. This includes job planning, preparing rolls, mounting plates, operating both manual and automated mounting machinery, and performing related tasks to ensure accurate plate mounting.
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

- Machine operators experience preferred ability to work a flexible schedule

- Ability to follow detailed instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers and be a team player
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16"
- Ability to understand basic mathematics including decimals
- Manual coordination and dexterity while utilizing hand tools and cleaning equipment
- Ability to handle equipment with care, caution and work safely
- Effective verbal and written communication
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
Essential Functions
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all established safety rules and regulations and utilize the required safety equipment. Report on any defective equipment or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Preparation of Roll Cylinders: Strip old plates from rolls, remove adhesive material, and clean cylinder surfaces with solvent to eliminate any contaminants. Cut and apply new adhesive material to the roll cylinders according to specifications.
- Plate and Roll Setup: Install and align plates onto rolls, ensuring precise positioning. Finish trimming to achieve the required fit for proper printing.
- Data Entry & Reporting: Enter required information into the plate database, including mounting settings and footage tracking. Record plate information in the order entry database and ensure accurate entries in the production reporting system.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
- Food Safety Commitment: Collaborate with the team to maintain Garlock's commitment to a Food Safe environment.
Physical Requirements
Exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently. Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently. Lifting up to 50 pounds at varying heights of up to 5 feet occasionally. Frequently works with hands and is squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing stairs, grabbing, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Standing on feet for 8 to 12 hours per day on concrete surfaces. Ability to distinguish colors (required for press positions).
