Provide expert psychiatric nursing care on a dynamic Adult Psychiatric Unit serving patients aged 18 to 65 with a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and dual diagnosis cases. This role offers a stimulating environment where medical and psychiatric care intersect, allowing you to utilize your skills in managing complex patient needs, including IV therapy, wound care, and diabetic management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to adult patients on a 30-bed unit.
- Safely administer and monitor psychotropic medications, recognizing side effects.
- Utilize electronic health records, with proficiency in EPIC for patient documentation.
- Operate automatic medication dispensing systems such as Omni Cell.
- Collaborate in admissions, discharges, and care planning.
- Function effectively in rotating shifts covering days, evenings, and nights.
- Assume charge nurse duties as required.
- Apply knowledge of mental health regulations and patient rights specific to Massachusetts.
- Participate in floating assignments and contribute to hospital-wide nursing support.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in inpatient adult psychiatric nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and de-escalation techniques.
- Competency in IV pump management and diabetic patient care.
- Familiarity with psychiatric healthcare law, including guardianship and court-ordered medications.
