A licensed Special Education Teacher is needed to support a specialized middle school program focused on students with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The position is full-time, contract-based, beginning as soon as possible and lasting through the end of the current school year, with potential for extension.

Located in Chicopee, MA, this role involves working within a middle school LINKS program designed to provide comprehensive support to a small classroom setting. Each classroom serves six students and is supported by two paraprofessionals plus a dedicated 1:1 staff member per student. As the teacher of record, you will lead instruction, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate closely with support staff to meet the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Special Education Teacher for the LINKS classroom.
  • Provide instructional leadership and create tailored learning experiences.
  • Implement and monitor IEPs in collaboration with paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides.
  • Address the behavioral, sensory, and toileting needs of students.
  • Work effectively with students exhibiting self-injurious behaviors (SIB).
  • Maintain clear communication with all members of the educational team.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license.
  • Experience working with students diagnosed with ASD.
  • Skilled in supporting students with sensory processing challenges.
  • Comfortable providing toileting assistance.
  • Knowledge of interventions for self-injurious behaviors.
  • Strong collaboration skills with paraprofessionals and support staff.
  • Must pass drug screening, fingerprinting, and background (CORI) checks.
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality required.

This opportunity is ideal for educators dedicated to making a meaningful impact in a supportive and structured environment. Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams and last 15 to 30 minutes.

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their resume, teaching license copy, and a brief summary of relevant experience. Prepare to share details about your special education background, ASD experience, and ability to support sensory and behavioral needs.

Apply now to contribute your expertise to a program committed to empowering students with significant needs.

Compensation for this position ranges from $30.20 to $50.20. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
