Position Summary
The Skilled Construction Laborer supports commercial construction projects by performing a wide range of hands-on tasks requiring experience, technical skill, and a strong understanding of jobsite operations. This role works under the direction of the Superintendent or Foreperson and plays a key part in maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards on the jobsite.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & Site Work
- Perform skilled labor tasks including material installation, demolition, framing support, concrete work, site prep, and finish work as assigned.
- Read and interpret basic construction drawings, layouts, and specifications.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment.
- Assist with layout, measurements, and preparation for skilled trades.
Jobsite Support
- Coordinate work activities with other crew members and subcontractors.
- Load, unload, and stage materials efficiently to support workflow.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times.
Safety & Quality
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or quality issues immediately.
- Perform work in accordance with established quality standards and best practices.
Communication & Teamwork
- Take direction from supervisors and work independently when appropriate.
- Communicate clearly with team members regarding tasks, challenges, and progress.
- Support a positive, respectful, and collaborative jobsite culture.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- 2–5+ years of experience in construction or related skilled labor.
- Working knowledge of construction methods, tools, and materials.
- Ability to safely lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform physical labor in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if applicable).
Preferred
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience on commercial construction sites.
- Familiarity with jobsite safety documentation and procedures.
- Ability to mentor or assist less experienced laborers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, and lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites.
- Use of PPE including hard hats, gloves, eye protection, and safety footwear.
