A skilled Registered Nurse is needed for a med-surg unit with telemetry responsibilities in a well-established hospital setting in Vermont. This contract opportunity offers a rewarding clinical environment focusing on acute adult patient care with complex medical conditions, including telemetry monitoring, post-operative care, and management of chronic illnesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply, interpret, and respond to telemetry data as part of patient monitoring.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adults with diagnoses such as COPD, CHF, diabetes, post-op orthopedic, urology, and gastrointestinal conditions.
- Perform bedside procedures including NG tube insertion, peripheral IV placement, and telemetry strip interpretation.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including RNs, LPNs, LNAs, and ancillary staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Adhere to hospital protocols using documentation and medication management systems like Epic and Pyxis.
- Participate in mandatory holiday coverage and float to other units as needed, though floating occurs infrequently.
- Uphold professional dress code standards and maintain infection control practices.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with at least 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in telemetry or med-surg nursing.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and Telemetry certification.
- Preferred skills include peripheral IV placement.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts with a scheduling system that allows some flexibility.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
