Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician – Travel Assignment
Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 hours/week | Rotating shifts (primarily 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)
Weekends/Holidays: Rotating
Pay Rate: $34/hour (Travel Rate)
Traveler Requirement: Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility
Position Summary
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a 13-week travel assignment at an acute care facility. This role is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment while adhering to established safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesDecontamination

Select and utilize appropriate decontamination methods and solutions

Sort, disassemble, rinse, disinfect, and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment

Strictly adhere to PPE and infection control protocols
Instrument Preparation
-
Assemble instrument trays using count sheets and manufacturer guidelines
-
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and defects
-
Wrap, containerize, peel-pack, label, and prepare instruments for sterilization
Sterilization
-
Select appropriate sterilization methods based on device and manufacturer instructions

Operate and monitor sterilization cycles

Document, verify, and maintain records of sterilization loads and biological testing
Storage & Distribution
-
Properly store sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment

Access and follow physician preference cards
-
Retrieve, distribute, and track surgical supplies efficiently
Equipment Operation
-
Operate SPD equipment including steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris I sterilizers
-
Utilize cart washers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, heat sealers, and testing devices
Inventory Control
-
Order, receive, stock, and monitor surgical supplies
-
Communicate inventory or supply issues promptly to appropriate staff
General Duties

Serve as a resource for SPD-related processes and best practices

Work independently with minimal supervision

Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment

Participate in training, staff meetings, and in-service education
-
Provide excellent service to patients, visitors, and colleagues

Perform additional duties as assigned
QualificationsSterile Processing Aide
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
-
Basic computer proficiency
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-
Completion of a Medical Terminology course or successful completion of the CCH Medical Terminology Challenge Exam

Must meet one of the following:
-
Anatomy & Physiology course (high school level or higher)

Successful completion of the CCH Anatomy Exam

Sterile Processing Technician
-
Minimum 3 years of recent SPD experience (within the past 5 years)

SPD Technician Certification required (must pass certification exam)
Sterile Processing Technician I

Meet all qualifications for Sterile Processing Aide

Minimum 1 year of experience as an SPD Aide

SPD Technician Certification required
