Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Support & Consultation:
- Travel to customer locations nationwide to provide technical assistance in the development, formulation, and production of further-processed meat products (e.g., sausages, deli meats, value-added items).
- Troubleshoot production issues, optimize processing techniques, and provide solutions to improve product quality, consistency, and yield.
- Offer on-site training to customers and their teams on best practices, equipment usage, and new processing technologies.
- Assist our sales team with customer presentations with the goal of selling more equipment.
- Product Development:
- Collaborate with customer R&D and product development teams to create new meat product formulations based on customer needs and market trends.
- Test and validate new ingredients, processing methods, and technologies for commercial-scale production.
- Quality Control & Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to food safety standards, regulatory compliance, and quality control procedures during customer visits.
- Conduct product quality assessments, including texture, flavor, appearance, and shelf life stability.
- Assist in troubleshooting quality-related issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Technical Expertise & Innovation:
- Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in meat processing.
- Provide feedback to the internal team regarding customer needs, challenges, and opportunities for product and process improvements.
- Work closely with internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet specific customer requirements.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, technical solutions, and product performance.
- Provide comprehensive reports and recommendations after each customer visit.
- Document and track customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Animal Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in meat processing, product development, or technical services within the meat industry.
- Knowledge of meat cutting, processing methods, and further processing technologies.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical knowledge of meat processing and further-processed meat products.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in a production environment.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and practical manner to diverse audiences.
- Experience with quality control, food safety standards, and regulatory compliance in the meat industry.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple customer visits and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
Requirements:
- Travel Requirements:
- Extensive travel across the United States, including overnight stays and occasional weekend work.
- Willingness to travel up to 80-90% of the time during the week (Mon-Fri)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with new product development or process optimization in further processed meat products.
- Familiarity with industry certifications, such as HACCP, SQF, or GMP.
- Ability to work with small or large-scale meat processing equipment and production lines.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role or as a technical service representative.
