Join a dynamic healthcare team in Lowell, MA, supporting adult patients in a fast-paced Observation Unit within an emergency care setting. This contract position focuses on delivering expert nursing care during night shifts with a 36-hour schedule every other week, providing critical support in a 16-bed Observation Unit designed for patient assessment and extended monitoring.
Responsibilities include comprehensive emergency nursing care such as patient assessment, accurate documentation, and executing clinical skills including IV therapy, phlebotomy, EKG, cardiac monitoring, point-of-care testing, and splinting. Nurses must utilize critical thinking to manage patient care and educate patients effectively. A crucial part of this role is the ability to read telemetry strips confidently to monitor cardiac rhythms. Flexibility to float between units and work rotating shifts is required to meet unit needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of general Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current Massachusetts RN license
- ACLS and PALS certifications
- Proficiency with EMR systems, specifically Epic, Asap, and Clinical Documentation tools
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage patient ratios of 4:1 to 5:1 depending on unit census
- Experience in adult patient care within emergency or observation settings
Schedule/Hours:
- Night shifts, 36 hours every other week
- Rotating shifts and floating within the unit as needed
