Hours: Monday - Friday (Early Afternoon and Early Evening)


Salary: $55,000.00 - $58,000.00

Job Summary

Buckingham Browne & Nichols School seeks an Athletics Equipment Manager to support BB&N's athletic program. The Equipment Manager will work closely with the leadership of the Athletics department to help ensure that policies and procedures are developed and implemented to purchase, maintain, and track equipment. In addition, the person in this position will oversee the laundering of uniforms, supplies, and equipment, staying up to date on industry standards and best practices. The Equipment Manager will also lead in site supervision of the athletic building during the afternoon and early evening athletic period. They will support the athletic philosophy of BB&N.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Key functions for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement equipment management policies and procedures.

  • Ensure all teams have properly fitted apparel and gear for practice and competitions that comply with safety regulations.

    • Collaborate with coaches on equipment needs.

    • Oversee the replacement, use, condition, inspections, and purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies, and meet safety standards.

    • Manage uniforms, laundry, and other team-related equipment.

    • Issue, clean, collect, and store uniforms, supplies, and equipment.

  • Develop and manage a budget for equipment purchases, maintenance, and repairs.

    • Track and maintain records of all equipment and uniforms, including purchasing new items and managing inventory levels.

  • Perform minor equipment repairs and arrange for major repairs.

  • Stay up to date on industry best practices and new technologies.

  • Coordinate with equipment and uniform vendors.

  • Oversee game day setup of fields, courts, and rink.

  • Oversee locker maintenance, locker rooms, and locker assignments.

  • Develop and implement team gear policies and coordination.

  • Supervise students in the athletic facility during the afternoon and early evening hours.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:

At least five years of experience working in athletics and/or purchasing materials and supplies on a professional scale. In addition, the ideal candidate will be collaborative, energetic, organized, knowledgeable, flexible, and eager to be an active member of a dynamic athletic and learning community. In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Service orientation, preferably in a non-profit, retail, educational, or hospitality environment.

  • Some experience in and an aptitude for administration and purchasing management for athletic uniforms and related equipment.

  • Excellent organizational, verbal & written communication skills.

  • Experience in using Google Suite and other computer systems.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
