This contract opportunity offers an experienced Registered Nurse a role focused on step-down cardiac care within a specialized medical unit. Providing skilled nursing in a cardiac medical unit requires proficiency in telemetry and advanced cardiac patient management. The unit supports patients recovering from cardiac and neurological interventions with a strong team-based approach and access to advanced technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care to patients on a 20-bed cardiac step-down unit including med/surg telemetry and stroke overflow
- Manage complex patient conditions such as CHF, COPD cardiac issues, chest tubes, hi-flow oxygen, BiPAP, thoracentesis, PD, tracheostomies, pacemakers, and cardiac cath follow-ups
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to promote patient recovery and safety
- Engage in bedside shift rounds and provide thorough handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Document care accurately using Meditech Expanse system
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current RN license with experience in telemetry and cardiac step-down nursing
- Advanced skills in procedures including thoracentesis, PD, trach care, pacemaker management, and cardiac catheterization care
- Certifications required: ASLS and BLS
- Professional demeanor with adherence to dress code and unit policies
- Ability to work scheduled 12-hour shifts with rotational weekend coverage

The cardiac medical unit is equipped with modern medical devices including IV pumps, SARA Steadys, high-flow devices, and Kangaroo pumps to support complex patient care.
