Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a full-time Special Education Teacher specializing in early childhood education, located in White River Junction, VT. This contract role offers the chance to work closely with high school students requiring individualized support in a unique school setting focused on early childhood development. The position includes a blend of classroom instruction and community-based learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and individualized support to approximately five high school students with special education needs.
- Collaborate effectively with assigned 1:1 paraprofessionals to deliver tailored educational services.
- Conduct the first half of the day in the classroom, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Facilitate community-based activities and job assistance during the second half of the day, supporting students in real-world work environments.
- Monitor student progress and communicate with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support.
- Maintain detailed records in compliance with educational standards and regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with early childhood and high school-aged students, particularly those with special needs.
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and community partners.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Flexibility and a commitment to supporting students beyond the classroom, including community engagement.
