Location: Hyannis, MA
Unit: Open Heart / Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
Duration: 3 months
Shift: Day Shift – 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Rotating weekends and holidays; extensive on-call coverage required
Pay: $60/hr for local candidates | $70/hr for travelers

Position Overview

We are seeking a Surgical Technologist (CVOR) to provide direct support to surgeons and nursing staff during a variety of cardiovascular and surgical procedures. The ideal candidate ensures sterile technique, patient safety, and efficient workflow in the operating room.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and nursing staff during CVOR and general surgical procedures

• Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, drapes, and solutions

• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and AORN standards

• Perform scrub technician duties across multiple surgical specialties

• Pass instruments, hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist with sponge, needle, and instrument counts

• Prepare, label, and handle surgical specimens for laboratory analysis

• Assist with patient positioning, transport, and transfer to recovery areas

• Operate sterilizers, lights, suction, and assist with diagnostic equipment as needed

• Assist with OR turnover, restocking, and preparation for subsequent cases

• Support orientation of new OR staff and participate in unit meetings and in-service education

• Provide service excellence aligned with organizational CARES values

Required Qualifications

• Experience: CVOR experience required

• Education: Graduate of an accredited civilian or military Surgical Technology / Operating Room Technician program

• Certifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through an NCCA-accredited certifying body

  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
