HighRes Biosolutions is a revolutionary laboratory automation leader committed to improving human health through life science robotics. We design and build innovative robotic systems and laboratory devices used by pharmaceutical and biotech companies and academic research laboratories.
We are currently seeking a System Area Lead (Technical Manufacturing Manager).
Duties and Responsibilities:
People Management & Supervision:
- Directly manages System Supervisors, Lead Techs, and System Techs I, II, and III.
- Responsible for staffing the upcoming work schedule with individual techs.
- Approves timecards, PTO requests, and expense reports.
- Monitors employee productivity and provides coaching and constructive feedback.
- Provides feedback on workmanship and adherence to standards.
- Ensures Supervisors maintain a clean and organized work cell at the end of each day.
- Ensures compliance with written procedures and that procedures are visible during work.
Collaboration:
- Partners with the Production Scheduling Manager on resource planning and build estimates.
- Supports the Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager in tracking Operations KPIs.
- Establishes and reviews a System Manufacturing KPI list with the Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager.
- Collaborates with System Supervisors to maintain shop floor organization and cleanliness – toolboxes are closed, and tools are put away. Leftover pallets/boxes are thrown away; ensure there are no trip hazards and that all benches are clean.
- Work with System Supervisors to ensure data on whiteboards is accurate and up to date.
Operational Oversight & Execution:
- Must have thorough knowledge of company products and procedures.
- Ensures the systems manufacturing area runs smoothly and that projects remain on schedule.
- Identifies and implements corrective actions for at-risk projects.
- Participates in daily stand-up, team, pre-build, and post-build meetings.
- Reviews project status emails and Jira reports; proactively solving issues on the production floor.
- Orders and manages floor stock material.
- Reviews and approves all manufacturing records.
Safety & Compliance:
- Maintains a safe work environment and enforces safety standards.
- Reports all accidents and near misses promptly.
- Ensures adherence to quality standards and organizational policies.
- Enforces compliance with company procedures, and documentation practices.
Technical Knowledge:
- Maintains a high level of discipline regarding technical knowledge and capability.
- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills; adapts to changing priorities.
- Understands and trains on methods, equipment, and processes.
- Communicates effectively in both written and oral formats.
Qualifications and Experience
- 10+ years of proven manufacturing experience.
- Can-do attitude, strong initiative, highly collaborative, and accountable.
- Must possess the ability to multitask and react quickly and professionally in high-stress situations.
- Strong ability to motivate team members.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, oral, and written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to understand the role in the overall business process and appropriately support all organizations. Ability to seek a team approach.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications, including Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and MRP/ERP systems.
- ISO9001 experience a plus.
- Ability to set direction, make decisions, and oversee operations with little to no direct supervision.
- Willingness to contribute outside of the job description when necessary.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time, salaried position.
- May require travel 10% of the time.
