A unique opportunity is available for a dedicated RN or LPN to provide one-to-one nursing care for a medically fragile student within a special education setting. This contract position supports a student who requires skilled nursing during transportation and throughout the school day.

Location: The role is based in Billerica, MA, with transportation duties to Lexington, MA, reflecting a commitment to ensure the students safety and well-being from home to educational placement and back. The school placement is at the middle school level, offering a specialized environment for student support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care and support during transportation on a medically equipped van.
  • Assist the student with preparation for each trip to ensure comfort and health safety.
  • Collaborate with nurses at the out-of-district campus to maintain consistent care.
  • Float throughout the district to cover other nursing roles as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of nursing services and communicate effectively with educators and healthcare teams.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid RN or LPN license.
  • Experience in school nursing or working with medically fragile children preferred.
  • Ability to manage health and safety protocols during transportation and school hours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability in variable settings.
  • Reliable and punctual with a compassionate approach to student care.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00-7:30 AM until 2:00 PM.
  • Contract duration: Current school year through June 2026.
