Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A unique opportunity is available for a skilled school nurse to provide dedicated 1:1 nursing care for a medically fragile student. This role involves supporting the student both during transportation and at their educational setting, ensuring health and safety throughout the school day.
Location: Billerica, MA
Setting: Middle School and transportation between home and out-of-district school (Lexington, MA)
Duration: Contract through the current school year, with a start date ASAP through June 2026
Schedule: Monday to Friday, approximately 7:007:30 AM start, ending around 2:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care to a medically fragile student during daily transportation in a special education van and at the school placement
- Assist the student with morning preparation for safe travel from home to school and support their return trip in the afternoon
- Collaborate with nursing staff at the out-of-district campus to ensure continuity of care
- Float into other nursing roles within the Billerica public school district as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid RN or LPN license with experience in school nursing strongly preferred
- Comfortable managing medically fragile students in both school and transportation settings
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced educational environment
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to student care
