Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A licensed Special Education Teacher is needed to support a middle school program serving students with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), in Springfield, MA. This full-time, contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with possible extension. The role involves providing instructional leadership, implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating closely with paraprofessionals and 1:1 staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the teacher of record for classrooms within the LINKS program, each with 6 students and a team including two paraprofessionals and a dedicated 1:1 staff member
  • Deliver tailored instruction and support for students with ASD and other significant support needs
  • Implement and monitor IEPs effectively, ensuring all goals and accommodations are met
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff to create a safe, supportive learning environment
  • Provide toileting and personal care support as needed
  • Manage behavioral challenges including self-injurious behaviors (SIB) with appropriate strategies

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Skilled in providing toileting support and managing sensory needs
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in addressing self-injurious behaviors (SIB)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with educational teams
  • Ability to pass drug screening, background, and CORI checks
  • Reliable transportation with punctual attendance

Location: Springfield, MA Middle School setting (Forest Park Middle School LINKS program)
