Want to make a real difference in your community? Come join the Alburgh Family Clubhouse, a new, full day, high-quality childcare and early learning center for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age children, and their families.

Alburgh Family Clubhouse Teacher Assistants support the lead teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for young children. Responsibilitiesinclude helping with daily routines, preparing and organizing learning materials, actively engaging with children, supervising play and activities, and assisting with classroom management.

We are looking for both full time teacher assistants for children from infant to preschool ages as well as part-time teacher assistants for afterschool/holiday/summer for school age children. Staff will be assigned to a shift within program hours. Program hours will initially be from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM and may be adjusted.

Duties

  • Assist teachers to ensure that the classroom is run smoothly and that individual, daily needs of both children and families are met.
  • Maintain an open, friendly, and positive relationship with each child.
  • Supervise children AT ALL TIMES when in the classroom or outside - including, but not limited to, during meal times, rest time, and free play.
  • Work on a team to support the needs of the classroom and the individual children.
  • Actively engage in activities with children
  • Support cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom/ playground materials.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Assist in the implementation of daily lesson plans and projects.
  • Inspect the school site and equipment for potential safety hazards; taking corrective action or informing the Executive or Assistant Director to prevent injuries.
  • Be aware at all times of health and safety concerns for children in your care - initiate referrals with Executive or Assistant Director.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with peers and administration.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development requirements and a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality. improvement and professional growth.



Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and be a high school graduate or completed GED

AND HAVE:

  • Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One (1) or Level Two (2) Certificate; or
  • Current CDA (Child Development Associate), and 1 year working with children grade 3 or younger; or
  • Human Services Program Certificate emphasizing child development or early childhood education, and 1 year working with children grade 3 or younger; or
  • Completion of Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals’ course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate, and 1 year working with children grade 3 or younger; or
  • Successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in child development or school age care and education, and 1 year experience working with children from grade 3 or younger.
