Job Description: Technician Level III
As a Level III Technician, with general direction from the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll be providing a wide range of maintenance services on company automotive vehicles including buses, vans and service vehicles. This is our entry service position that requires completing PMI service procedures as outlined in our maintenance standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The scope of this position will be consistent with preventive maintenance procedures and minor defect repairs found during services or reported through driver vehicle inspections.
Responsibilities:

Someone who has minimally 2 years HD truck mechanic experience. CDL-B preferred, but not required. Experience with performing duties such as changing oil and tires, replacing hoses and belts, inspecting brakes, and helping to diagnose vehicle issues. Have good organization skills. As an Auto Mechanic, you will assist our customers by diagnosing and repairing issues with vehicles performance and function As an Auto Mechanic, you must have an in-depth understanding of all vehicle systems and components. This role involves skilled maintenance and repair of all Public Works Department vehicles and equipment, as well as the upkeep of the Town garage. The mechanic works under the general supervision of the Superintendent and Highway Division Foreman, with significant autonomy in decision-making regarding vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Perform skilled repairs and maintenance on gasoline and diesel engines, including engine overhauls, brake and suspension work, electrical system repairs, and clutch replacements</li>
<li>Operate and document a preventive maintenance program, keeping detailed records of all work performed on vehicles and equipment</li>
<li>Repair power equipment and tools such as compressors, jackhammers, and mowers.</li>
<li>Order and manage parts inventory, prepare and maintain repair records, and assist in developing vehicle specifications</li>
<li>Operate vehicles for snow removal and sanding during winter, plowing, and perform emergency highway operations as needed.</li>
<li>Ensure safe practices in vehicle servicing, maintain a daily log of activities, and update the DPW Computer Maintenance and Management System</li>
