Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life. As a DSP, you will work closely with clients to promote independence and ensure their well-being in a respectful and supportive environment.
Duties
<ul>
<li>Provide transportation from individual's home in Dublin to place of employment in Peterborough</li>
<li>Monday - Thursday: flexible schedule</li>
<li>Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.</li>
<li>Monitor client health and behavior, providing timely feedback to healthcare professionals when necessary.</li>
<li>Support clients in social activities and community engagement to foster inclusion and personal growth.</li>
<li>Educate clients about their rights as residents and empower them to advocate for themselves.</li>
<li>Provide first aid as needed and maintain a safe environment for all clients.</li>
<li>Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care.</li>
<li>Personal care to include some or all: toileting, dressing transfers, medication monitoring/administration if needed (training provided)</li>
</ul>
Requirements
<ul>
<li>Previous experience in patient care or home care is preferred</li>
<li>Understanding of resident rights and advocacy principles</li>
<li>Ability to perform patient monitoring effectively</li>
<li>LNA or relevant experience a plus</li>
<li>Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients</li>
<li>Certification in First Aid/CPR is desirable</li>
<li>A genuine passion for helping others and promoting independence</li>

Responsibilities:

<li>Build meaningful relationships with senior citizens and their families as you provide assistance with activities of daily living.</li>
<li>Attend to individual care needs and get to know the client's unique preferences and personalities.</li>
<li>Notify management of changes in mental or physical condition and recommend adjustments in the level of care and service.</li>
<li>Assist clients in life skills and other life enriching activities as indicated on their individual care plan.</li>
<li>Assist clients with 1 on 1 personal care and home management as instructed by and documented on the written plan of care.</li>
<li>Assist and facilitate activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal-care and hygiene, leisure activities and socialization</li>
<li>Help local seniors at home with shopping and/or light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation and&nbsp;companionship.</li>
<li>Always ensure client safety.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Dedication to and passion to serve seniors with excellent customer service skills.</li>
<li>Positive attitude and the flexibility to perform various duties in service to the clients&nbsp;are keys to success.</li>
<li>Must be at least 18 years of age with a&nbsp;High School diploma or GED.</li>
<li>Ability to make choices, decisions and act in the client’s&nbsp;best interest.</li>
<li>Possess&nbsp;written and verbal skills for effective communication and a level of understanding.</li>
<li>Competent in organizational and time management skills.</li>
<li>Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.</li>
