<li> Ensures that the classroom is clean, safe, and well organized with supplies and equipment is put away when not in use.</li>
<li> Immediately reports to the Director any unsafe equipment or toys, or any dangerous or hazardous situations.</li>
<li> Uses proper hand washing up to but not limited to: before handling food, after diaper changing, blowing noses, using bathrooms, caring for sick a child, and handling of animals.</li>
<li> Documents all incidents and accidents as per EEC regulations and Bright Futures policies and procedures, utilizing proper forms.</li>
<li> Immediately reports to the Director any suspicious or inappropriate behavior from staff, children, parents/guardians, and immediately informs the Director of any parent complaints.</li>
<li> Acts as a mandated reporter by Massachusetts State Law with regard to suspected child abuse and/or neglect, and as a mandated reporter is required to report any suspected child abuse/neglect to the Director immediately.</li>

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is in a childcare center that operates from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. This position may require additional work hours. <li>Communicate with students, families, and school leaders around academic and behavioral progress via phone calls, messages on DeansList and family conferences.</li>
<li>Build relationships with our students and support their character development through our advisory model, homeroom structures, ethics focus and other whole-school moments.</li>
<li>Attend key whole-school school events throughout the year (i.e family conferences, back to school nights).</li>
<li>Attend and participate in weekly staff professional development via One Team Meetings, Department Meetings, Grade Level Meetings, and Instructional Team Meetings.</li>
<li>Uphold school and grade level systems and structures with fidelity.</li>
<li>Partner with team members, students, and families, to actively uproot racism and inequality in our community.</li>
<li>Engage with, and attend, regular coaching meetings; implement feedback with fidelity.</li>

Experience:
<ul>
<li>Previous teaching experience is preferred, in a charter school setting is a plus. Experience with diverse student populations and inclusive education practices is a plus.</li>

Education, Certifications, and Licensure:

<li>Education: A bachelors degree in education or a related field is required. Masters degree preferred.</li>
<li>Certification: Valid Massachusetts teaching license in the appropriate subject area.

The Magic Seasons Early Childhood Center is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care to provide care for preschool and school age children in two classrooms. Transportation, as needed, and nutritional meals and snacks are provided.
 
Assistant Teachers are not assigned to a permanent classroom but instead will work in different classrooms with various age groups. Please note work locations and work hours of Floating Assistant Teacher may be changed to meet the needs of the Program.
 
RESPONSIBLE TO: MASE Program Director 
 
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for assisting with the execution of a nurturing classroom environment and high quality educational program in line with the philosophy and program goals of Child Care of the Berkshires.
Requirements:
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

<li>Must demonstrate enjoyment of children and solid understanding of child growth and development.</li>
<li>Must be at least 17 years old with at least a high school diploma or equivalent.</li>
<li>General knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aid.</li>
<li>Ability to assist with the implementation of nurturing, stimulating and developmentally appropriate curriculum activities.</li>

Full time staff are responsible for attending workshops, conferences, in-service trainings a minimum of 2 hours per month. Staff are responsible for making sure any training documentation is added to personnel files.</li>
<li>Demonstrate friendliness, politeness and cooperation with other staff members, clients, supervisors, vendors and members of the community.</li>
<li>Adhere to policies of CCB, as stated in the Personnel Policies, including dress code, confidentiality, boundaries and Employee Standard of Conduct.</li>

<li>Willingness to take direction and instruction from Lead Teachers and other supervisors.</li>
<li>Full time staff are responsible for maintaining current certification in First Aid and CPR.</li>

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
Must have good physical health to meet demands of teaching: ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, and lift and carry children weighing up to 50 lbs for extended periods of time as needed; ability to move quickly, maintain visual contact with broad area, and get up and down from the floor, and engage in a variety of physical activities with the children. Must be mature and have good mental health in order to meet the mental demands of working with children.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employees work in a classroom setting, and the noise level is sometimes high. Employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repeatedly to finger, handle and operate standard office equipment; reach with both hands and lift up to 50 pounds.
 
WORK SCHEDULE AND HOURS: Our centers are open from 7:00am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Schedule will be based on an 8 hour opening or closing shift for full time employees. The Summer Assistant Teacher is a temporary position.
 
SALARY RANGE: Starting at $17.94 - $19.76 per hour commensurate with education and experience. Benefits such as earned sick time, holiday pay, and more are dependent upon part time or full time employment.
